Happy 2nd Birthday to my blog

Fortunately it was a Facebook memory that cued me to realise this. Cannot believe my first blog post was done on this day back in 2018 and I’m still continuing to make my mark on the world by not fitting in.

I’m actually laying in bed, it’s 2:20am and I’m typing this on my iPhone notes app. I have a lot to be thankful for really when I think about things.

I was inspired by a blogger to take this up again and it’s been a great outlet for me. Ok while it may seem like I vent about anything and everything, even the seemingly randomness has an air of control about it all as I don’t want you all seeing how completely dool alley I really am.

What I really enjoy is how each blog entry tends to write itself. I’m never sitting, staring at an empty page trying to force myself to write. It’s my fingers that are doing their best to keep up with my brain as it just vents. It can be an observation that I’ve made that day or an event. But I’ll tell my friends “I’ve feel a blog entry coming on” and if it makes it through my sleep on it filter, they’ll see it a day later. Maybe two days later after I’ve added some pictures or videos to it if needed.

This is my 39th blog entry and according to my stats I’ve had just over 3,200 page views in total. Back when I was a more active poster I was getting page views from Peru!

I do still have quite a filter though on what I choose to post about and maybe in time that’ll go but not just yet.

But a slight change of subject... I’ve been wanting to get a new cycling jersey and shorts as it’s been a little while since I bought something cycling related. So I found a store that is based in the United States with a brilliant jersey and matching shorts as you can see below.

So on Thursday I went to go and buy it, but then I noticed the size guide was completely wrong. Not that I think I know better when it comes to a company’s clothing sizes, but when you see waist sizes going up on ranges of 21-30, 22-31, 23-32.... you know that something isn’t right. It’s like the person that created the table had it open in excel, dragged the row down and excel did the rest and the person that created it said “numbers are present, that’ll do”.

I contacted their customer support and after a bit of an exchange they tell me that I need to order an XL size shorts.

Now you’ll have to imagine the screeching sound of a record stylus mid song when I heard that. “Bloody XL!?” My rationale being that back in the day when I was significantly larger than I am now, I found a hoodie and ordered it. That was an XL. But I didn’t realise it was coming from the US. Well, when it arrived and I tried it on, it was like I was 9 years old playing dress up in my dads shirt. You couldn’t see my hands it was so big I could have lived in it.

Of course they are being very helpful and I can exchange the item if it’s not suitable. I don’t know how quickly a transatlantic exchange can occur but to be honest I’d rather not need to.

So back to “bloody XL!?”. In European sizes My cycling tops are L and my shorts are S. Yes I am an upside down triangle. So I’m finding it pretty difficult to get my head around the fact that I am an XL in a country where XL is massive! Ironically if it were coming from Asia then I would believe them, but apparently it is all made / printed in the US.

So do I take their advice and potentially order the Lycra version of clown trousers or just bite the bullet and go for it?

I predict the blog posts will continue on at their semi-regular pace.  Especially now the Canada trip is looming. That is going to be absolutely brilliant and I cannot wait to get away to snowier climes...
