Its that time of the year again...

Hi all!  Well after what seemingly was / is a large break from blogging, but there is now "the blog that never was" and some of you will know what that means. Here is the next entry in my oh so random collection of thoughts. Its that time of the year again where winter isn't sure when its coming or going, but I would like to think that it is now going as the temperatures are picking up slowly, snow and ice are also vanishing (well, ok, vanished from where I bobble about in). Kaprun Keegan and I are now only 9 days away from heading back to Kaprun.  Seems weird that Kaprun has been a thing on the radar for 352 days so far.  9 days away from views like this that have been my computer background for the lions share of the year... Keegan has done incredibly well saving his pocket money for the trip.  OK in reality he's been banned from spending it so I do wonder how he will be with the money he has accrued over the course of the year. The Prudential RideLon...

So, Sunday 29th July was the big day.  Training rides, hours in the gym, watching videos of the big hills, driving the big hills, cycling the big hills in the middle of a heatwave to prepare me and my legs for the undertaking. The Pre-Ride I knew it was going to be a long day, the alarm going off at 4am making me drag myself out of bed and start cracking on with things.  First, into the kitchen to neck some sort of liquid carbo breakfast (chocolate flavoured).  Then into the bathroom for a quick wash, contact lenses in (at this point Claire F arose from the spare room with a "no" look on her face). I checked, and double checked my ride bag and away we went to Richmond station. At this point the skies were looking a bit crap but it hadn't started raining just yet although it was quite cold as you'd expect at that time in the morning.  Approaching the station is when the first drops of rain started to appear, and when I thought... oh blimey, I nee...

Its been a while for sure (a catch up)

Hi all... I had a post already started with me blabbing on about how the word "friend" has been devalued.  But it has stagnated and the last time I added to it was about 4 weeks ago.  So, I've deleted it and just want to do a bit of a catch up with whats been going on with me etc. I've been training hard(ish) for the Prudential RideLondon which, assuming I'll publish this entry today, is now only 5 days away. Registration is going to be on Thursday where after work I'll be heading to the ExCel centre in London to pick up my timing chip and rider numbers in readiness for the start on Sunday morning. Its slowly starting to sink in now, especially as yesterday I found my details are available to be looked up with this years riders: Its been a good journey overall despite the soreness to my "gooch".  My fitness has definitely improved and I've really smashed my target weight to the point where I now do NOT want to be any lighter as I ser...

Tick, tock, weekend imminent

Good morning everyone.  Firstly happy Friday to you all! So this time tomorrow Keegan and I will be on our way to Salzburg.  The bags are very nearly all packed.  The snowboards have had their final scrape, brush, and Zardoz.  They are now resting base up on top of Sasha's crate since yesterday evening, they're looking incredibly shiny and ready to go play. Do you ever get that feeling when you're about to leave home that you're forgetting something?  I had it this morning when I was standing by my front door about to close it.  Yes I didn't have my front door key but that's because my parents are staying at mine while Keegan and I are away.  They get their own space and Sasha gets to be at home among familiar surroundings.  So anyway, I knew it wasn't that, because I hadn't forgotten it.  I had my wallet, my car key, my work door pass was in my car.  So I just shut the door and went to work.  I've now just remembered what ...
