I'm getting back into the running again

Image
To those that know me, they're probably thinking "Noooo! Remember what happened to your knee!?".  To those people I say, "I'll never forget that day".  But I find that my regular route around Sheerwater has gotten stale and boring.  So I'm now branching out to other parts of Woking.  My new favourite route takes in the lake at the Goldsworth Park recreational ground. I've been running with a friend.  Well I think she's still a friend, I've been sworn at a few times as I'm being a bit of a task master.  But we're taking in the lake and its absolutely gorgeous to run around.  From my place this pond is just over 5km away so its a nice halfway point on a semi-lengthy run for me.   This entry has been edited a couple of times already as I you'll notice in one paragraph I call it a lake, then I called it a pond.  Then I renamed them both to lake, then both to pond, then I googled "difference between a pond and a lake" and am...

Friendships - what I want to tell Keegan

Image
When I spend time with Keegan, more often than not now he tells be about the drama's that are happening at school with his friends or if he likes a girl and she likes him etc.  It does make me smile and I'm please to say that he does make friends much easier than I ever did when I was at school and probably even today. I did a post a while ago about unsocial media and how I think its done more harm than I believe it ever was intended.  Not that I believe it was created to ever mess things up.  But then again, if someone was to create a computer game that proved to be massively successful, then odds on people would be addicted to it and therein it would have a negative effect in getting that person out into the fresh air and meeting new people etc. So Keegan said that when he gets to being 13 that he wants to have a Facebook account.  Of course I told him that he would need to be careful and gave him the short talk on how online, anybody can be anybody they cho...

My Tuesday "Mischief" Familia

Image
Yes yes I know, another sabbatical taken since the last post.  Quite a few months have elapsed since the Tour Of Cambridgeshire during which I have had a knee injury, done the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 mile (in which I managed a sub 5 hour time!) and did my last sportive of the year which was the Orro Magnificat. But lets press ahead to the current day.  It now seems like my life has come full circle, and yet, not.  I'm trying to make a concerted effort to find that balance in my two main activities which I have always talked about and yet not managed to find.  Cycling and snowboarding.  So to that end I have started going to the Tuesday "Skills development" sessions once more.  The cycling is still present, but I'm taking a bit of a step back with that as I've not quite figured things out a bit with me. I cannot be bothered to scroll back through all the other blog posts I've ever written to see if I'm about to repeat myself so please do forg...

Week wrapped up

Image
As I sat in Morrisons this morning trying to get some feeling back in my fingers, my brain starts going over the events of the week. Back to work, put down deposits for Keegan and I to return to Kaprun, sorting out a new mortgage deal, finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel for a leasehold extension which started about 1 year ago oh and to a lesser degree, my right shoulder finally stopping hurting even though I’ve no idea why it even started hurting to begin with. Yesterday as I was driving home, I was speaking to my friend Claire and she asked if we’d known each other about a year also (I’d mentioned the leasehold extension). At first my brain said “yeah of course” but then actually thinking about it, no we hadn’t as it has only been about 10 months. That’s made me think about how quickly things become involved in your life and the effects they have be they positive or negative. Tuesday 5th July 2016 @ 8pm. Seems like an arbitrary date and time but that marks the first time ...
